Lesko Questions CEO of TikTok

This week, the House Energy and Commerce Committee questioned the CEO of TikTok about the national security risk the app poses. I asked, "Mr. Chew, do you agree that the Chinese government has persecuted the Uyghur population?" His refusal to answer the question reveals his ties with the Chinese government. Additionally, India banned TikTok in 2020. New Zealand, Canada, the U.K., Belgium, and the E.U. have all banned TikTok from government devices. FBI Director Wray said TikTok "screams out with national security concerns." Lastly, regarding U.S. users, a current TikTok employee said that Chinese employees have access to our closest contacts and other sensitive information. It does not make sense for a current TikTok employee to say this if it wasn't true. Watch me ask these important questions below:

Lesko Legislation to Combat Drug Crisis Passes House Energy and Commerce Committee

I am proud that my bill, the Securing the Border for Public Health Act, passed out of the House Energy and Commerce Committee. This legislation utilizes Title 42 Public Health Authorities to stop the import of certain controlled substances. Our nation is facing a deadly drug crisis, while the Biden Administration’s open border agenda has incentivized criminal cartels to smuggle drugs over the southern border. This bill is critical in stopping the flow of these deadly drugs into our communities to save lives. I am grateful to my colleagues for their support, and I hope this bill will be brought to the Floor of the U.S. House of Representatives for a vote soon. Watch my remarks below:

Lesko Introduces Legislation to Stop Biden Administration's Gas Stove Ban

President Biden’s Department of Energy is attempting to implement an extreme regulation that would effectively ban gas stoves. This is just an attempt by the Department of Energy to institute government control in every aspect of Americans’ lives. That is why I introduced the Save Our Gas Stoves Act to prohibit unreasonable energy standards for cooking products and block the U.S. Department of Energy from implementing its burdensome proposed efficiency standard for gas cooking products. I am fighting to protect Americans’ gas stoves and put a stop to this abuse of power.

Lesko Leads Letter to Department of Energy to Protect Gas Stoves

I led a letter to U.S. Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm opposing the Department of Energy’s proposed rule that would require an energy performance standard for residential cooktops. This rule is a back door attempt to ban gas stoves and expand the federal government’s influence over Americans’ daily lives. I was proud to lead my colleagues in urging Secretary Granholm not to finalize this proposed rule.

GET THE FACTS: President Biden Continues to Ignore His Border Crisis

Each month, U.S. Customs and Border Protection's (CBP) data on the border crisis illustrate the results of the Biden Administration's failed, open border policies. Since President Biden entered office, he has worked to undo the prior administration's successful border policies. As a result, there have been more than 4.8 million migrant encounters at the southern border. The past five months alone have seen over one million encounters along the southern border, which is a new record under President Biden and Secretary Mayorkas' failed rule. CPB has also seized 11,000 pounds of fentanyl. February 2023, sadly, had 154,998 illegal migrant encounters at the southern border, making it the 24th consecutive month with more than 150,000 illegal migrant encounters. This does not include the 1.3 million known gotaways who have evaded apprehension. Democrats' blatant neglect of the invasion occurring at our border is unacceptable and has facilitated a terrible humanitarian crisis. House Republicans are well aware that this situation demands attention and action. We are working day and night on legislation to secure our border.
