As the climate continues to warm, Antarctic sea ice will continue to decline — and sea levels will continue to rise.

John, Antarctica is on the verge of a serious meltdown.

Over the last 44 years, scientists have been tracking how much sea ice is floating around Antarctica’s coastline — and in those four decades, there has never been less ice around the continent.

Folks, this is the third time this record has been broken in the last six years. And as ice continues to melt around Antarctica, the polar region home to the Thwaites glacier (a.k.a. the “doomsday glacier”) is losing its cover.

That glacier alone holds enough water to raise sea levels by half a meter if it melts, John. We have to take harsh climate action now so that doesn’t happen.

Scientists across the globe have reached a clear consensus: As the climate continues to warm, Antarctic sea ice will continue to decline — and sea levels will continue to rise.

This spells disaster for the wildlife in Antarctica, for the United States, and for the coastal communities across the globe who will bear the brunt of the environmental consequences.

Our SEEC Members in Congress have already lept to action. They’re working to curb carbon emissions, lead the shift to renewable energy, and reduce the environmental pollution that’s warming our planet and our waters. Will you chip in to support their work to protect this critical ecosystem and reverse the effects of this alarming climate trend?

What happens in the Antarctic will impact every single one of us, John. We can’t ignore the science here — we need to act now and act fast.

Thanks to your help in 2022, SEEC PAC was able to re-elect over 95% of our pro-environment members to the U.S. House of Representatives — defying the odds on a night where Democrats lost seats. Now we are counting on you to help our SEEC members pass climate, clean energy and environmental justice policies in the 118th Congress while we continue fighting for a sustainable future. But if you'd like to receive fewer emails, we understand. You can click here to only get our most important messages, or you can unsubscribe.
