INTERNAL MEMO – ANNA PAULINA LUNA FOR CONGRESS

PREPARED FOR: SUPPORTERS AND DONORS

Our grassroots fundraising was an indispensable part of our campaign last year.

Without our impressive fundraising totals, it would have been extremely difficult for Anna to win – if not downright impossible.

But so far this year, our numbers have dipped dramatically.

We were always anticipating a drop-off coming into an off year.

Anna has also spent the overwhelming majority of her time working in Congress, so she’s had very little time to fundraise in the last few months.

However, we’ve seen a drop-off far below what we were anticipating.

There’s just over a week to go in the first quarter of 2023, and so far, we’ve raised less than 10% of what we raised in the final quarter of 2022.

Unless we turn things around quickly in the final week before the deadline, we’re going to come up short of our Q1 target and fall behind budget.

With Anna’s seat being one of the Democrats’ top targets in 2024, that’s extremely dangerous for her reelection chances.

The Democrats' fundraising has barely slowed down at all since the heat of the election cycle, and they’re building a record-breaking war chest to try and take back the House majority next year.

They’re likely going to spend millions of dollars of that war chest right here in the district to blast the airwaves with attack ads.

That formula worked for them in 2022, especially against Republican candidates who lacked the grassroots fundraising to compete, and we can expect them to double down on this strategy next year.

To put it simply, we cannot afford to get left behind so early in the cycle, or we may never be able to catch up.

Support from our friends like you is the only way for us to get back on budget and ensure Anna has the resources she needs to defend this seat.
