Third speaker announced for our upcoming Capitol Hill event!

Making Tax Time Work for Everyone: Strengthening Tax Credits for Working Families in 2020

With Speakers: IRS Commissioner Charles Rettig, Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) and Representative Danny K. Davis (D-IL-7)

Thursday, February 6, 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

U.S. Capitol Visitor Center, Room SVC 212-10

On Thursday, February 6, Prosperity Now and  Tax Credits for Workers and Their Families [[link removed]], with the support of H&R Block, will bring together policymakers, tax time researchers and community tax preparers on Capitol Hill for a lunchtime discussion on ways to continue strengthening the tax time moment. This will include building on tax time victories in 2019 such as the passage of the VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Permanence Act as well as highlighting upcoming tax time research in 2020. We will also dive into what practitioners on the ground are seeing in the current tax filing season including challenges and opportunities moving forward.

Tax time presents a critical moment for low- and moderate-income families to build financial security. Tax credits such as the EITC (Earned Income Tax Credits) and CTC (Child Tax Credits) not only help families move out of poverty, stay afloat and catch up financially but also give them an opportunity to build a financial cushion for the upcoming year.

Please join us for lunch and a robust discussion on how we can work together to make tax time work for everyone in 2020.

Lunch will be provided.
