friend,

The state legislature has only been in session a few weeks, and already the Senate passed a bill to allow the state to control whether YOUR municipality can switch to clean energy! This is a massive overreach and will limit clean energy growth. It also puts low-wealth communities and communities of color – already hardest hit by pollution – at even more risk.

And that’s just one bill! We’re tracking bills opposing federal protections of our creeks and streams, blocking attempts to phase out high-polluting diesel-powered vehicles that emit pollutants, and letting toxic spills go unreported.

Even with Speaker Joanna McClinton in charge of the House, pro-environment lawmakers only have a razor-thin majority , which means that these attacks are going to continue and be used as bargaining chips.

We need to keep fighting dangerous legislation coming out of the Senate and expose the lawmakers behind these bills – and we count on our monthly donors to fund the lobbying and education work we do in Harrisburg: [link removed]

Collectively, anti-environment state Senate bills would undercut the growth of clean energy jobs for working-class Pennsylvanians. They’ll also weaken the ability of state environmental agencies to do the kind of oversight that’s needed to hold polluters accountable for violating standards that aim to protect low-wealth communities and minority communities from the lingering effects of redlining and other racist policies.

We cannot allow these lawmakers to give polluters even more power to rewrite the rules to benefit their bottom lines. Friend, by becoming a monthly donor, you help CVPA continue to take an active role in confronting the climate crisis head-on in Pennsylvania, from educating and mobilizing community members to coordinating with our allies and lobbying in Harrisburg.

Pennsylvanians deserve a healthy environment AND lawmakers who will focus on the issues that the vast majority of people care about – like preventing air and water pollution and transitioning to a clean energy future. Let’s stop the nonsense and call out our opponents for their extreme anti-environmentalism – become a sustaining member today and join in the fight: [link removed]
