Supporting Students and Parents
Friend,
Students get the most out of their education when parents know what their children are learning. As I talk to families across Wisconsin, I hear from parents who are concerned about the quality of their children's education. The COVID-19 pandemic school closures negatively impacted parents, students, and teachers. We see higher levels of learning loss and our children’s mental health is suffering. I’m focused on ensuring our children can receive the best education possible, protecting their mental health, and providing parents with the access and transparency they deserve in their children’s education.
We should empower parents to make decisions about their child's education. Parents’ involvement is critical to a child’s academic success. Allowing for choice in education is a key component to providing students and parents with the best options that fit their family’s needs. We must also promote parents being involved in their child’s education and ensure our tax dollars are being properly utilized. This week, the House passed legislation to support parents and students.
The Parents Bill of Rights is built on five, common-sense principles that I support.
Parents’ involvement is critical to a child's academic success. We must ensure parents are in control of their child’s education. The Parents Bill of Rights outlines simple solutions to keep parents informed and increase transparency. I want to hear your thoughts on this legislation.
