Here’s exactly how a voter’s plan is affected by restrictive SB 202:

Hey there, I’m Nicole from the Fair Fight Action team. Have you wondered how voter suppression laws really impact voters in states like Georgia? I’m here to explain.

In the last election, a law called SB 202 made it harder for Georgians to exercise their freedom to vote. We still turned out in huge numbers, but this kind of barrier should never exist — so it's our mission to make sure these obstacles are dismantled.

Before we tell you how Fair Fight Action continues to fight back against voter suppression efforts like SB 202, here’s exactly how a voter’s plan is affected by these restrictions:

My voting checklist
  • Am I registered to vote?
    • SB 202 made it more likely for voters to have their registration canceled.
  • Have I requested my mail-in ballot?
    • SB 202 shortened the period to request a ballot by 109 days.
  • Do I have my valid ID handy?
    • SB 202 requires specific photo ID in order to vote by mail — and over 200,000 Georgians don’t have the accepted IDs.
  • Do I know where my drop box is?
    • SB 202 significantly reduced the total number of drop boxes and drop box availability.
  • When am I planning to vote? Do I have time to wait in line?
    • SB 202 no longer allows volunteers to distribute water or snacks to voters while waiting in line.
  • When can I vote in the runoff election?
    • SB 202 cut the runoff timeline by 5 weeks, meaning less time for voters to cast their ballots again.

Check out even more of the reasons why SB 202 is a harmful law for voters here.

Fair Fight Action is working around the clock to make voting easier, not more difficult. Together with our partners on the ground, our team is organizing activists in their communities and pressuring state lawmakers to take immediate action against dangerous anti-voter legislation.

But that’s not all — we’re also building out robust voter education and training programs to guarantee strong turnout in future elections. It’s up to us to prove the anti-democratic legislators wrong, by showing up even stronger than we have before.

Can you chip in $20 or more right now — before our end-of-quarter deadline on Friday — to fuel Fair Fight Action’s efforts to expand the freedom to vote?
