Republicans Empower Parents

With the passage of the Parents Bill of Rights Act, House Republicans are making an unambiguous statement of support for parents’ ability to have a say in their child’s education. This legislation would empower parents by guaranteeing they can have an active role in shaping the education of their children, who are undeniably the most precious part of their lives.

ImagePassing this bill into law acknowledges that parents, as the primary authority of their children, have first input into their kids' moral and intellectual formation.
The passage of the Parents Bill of Rights marks a definitive realignment in the way the federal government would approach education should it be signed into law. Parents are the primary authority over their children and have first input into their kids' moral and intellectual formation. I will always stand for the right of parents to make decisions about their children’s education.

Baylor Ambassadors Shine

The Baylor Bears are known for letting their light shine wherever they go, and their visit to Capitol Hill was no exception.

ImageStudents in the Baylor Ambassadors Program serve as a testament, as they exude sincerity and commitment, to Baylor’s faith-based mission. During their visit to my congressional office in Washington, the ambassadors had the chance to ask thoughtful questions and receive an in-depth understanding of the daily operations of the federal government. The questions they provided highlighted their well-rounded understanding civic engagement and the importance of providing young individuals with the tools and knowledge necessary to become informed and engaged citizens in political discourse. Through programs like the Baylor Ambassadors, the next generation of leaders is empowered to make a positive impact on the world around them. I hope they have a wonderful time during the rest of their trip. Sic’em Bears!

Texas Banks Remain Strong

Banking in Texas has demonstrated remarkable resilience and stability, even in the face of concerns surrounding national financial institutions. This stability can be attributed to the state's well-diversified banking sector, characterized by credit-worthy institutions and a strong foundation of independent and community banks. Local banks have been successful in cultivating a high level of trust among their customers, which has been instrumental in ensuring their continued strength.

As the Senior Texan on the House Financial Services Committee, I am committed to ensuring that Texas banks have a voice on Capitol Hill. I enjoyed visiting with Texas bankers this week, and I look forward to representing their concerns as the Financial Services Committee questions senior bank regulators next week.

As a result, Texas banks are weathering our current economic uncertainties and maintain robust performance. These institutions’ ability to remain stable is a testament to the power of customer trust and the importance of diversification in the financial industry. In an era of unpredictability among many large national banks, the stability of Texas banks is an encouragement.
