Washington, DC – To start off the week, I joined my House Republican colleagues for our Annual Issues Conference, where we focused on our legislative agenda and accomplished a great deal as we continue to deliver on our Commitment to America. Later that day, President Biden signed our crime bill into law, which was a major win for public safety. 

On Tuesday, I joined my colleagues to demand answers on the Biden Administration’s proposed changes to Medicare Advantage, a program that includes more than 31 million enrollees. I’m working to ensure seniors aren’t forced to pay higher out-of-pocket costs or lose access to care. You can read our letter here.

North Texas law enforcement leaders from Sachse, and Irving visited our D.C. office this week, and I had the honor of giving them a nighttime tour of the Capitol. Later in the week, I continued my oversight of the Small Business Administration (SBA), which had an obligation to protect the American taxpayers from widespread fraud within pandemic-related loans. I questioned the SBA Administrator about the agency’s failure to not only prevent such fraud, but also to recoup fraudulent loans. You can watch the Administrator's responses here.

I also voted to overturn President Biden’s veto of a bipartisan bill to protect retirement savings accounts from radical ideologies. Unfortunately, the vast majority of the House Democratic Caucus voted against this, so we were not able to overturn the veto, but we will continue to find other ways to ensure retirement security.

Despite our country's need for important new trade relationships, President Biden still lacks a substantive trade agenda, which is causing American companies to miss out on opportunities and helps adversarial countries like China. During our Ways and Means Committee hearing this morning, I questioned the U.S. Trade Representative about this and much more. Watch our exchange here.

Today, I was pleased to vote for the Parents Bill of Rights, which increases transparency and empowers parents to continue playing an active role in their children’s education.

Our Texas-24 Hometown Hero of the week is Kandi Stewart! In addition to being a teacher in HEBISD, Kandi co-founded a nonprofit, Courage to Conquer Cancer, that provides mastectomy patients with a free recovery kit.
