Across the United States, parents have asked time and time again for more transparency in schools and have been met with fierce backlash. It is unacceptable that parents are being left out of the decision-making process for their own children's education. The current administration went so far as to label these concerned parents "domestic terrorists" for simply speaking up at school board meetings—which is their right.
This ends now. Today, the House of Representatives passed the Parents Bill of Rights Act to take a stand for educational freedom and give parents the transparency they need in order to be the most affective advocates for their children.
- Parents have the right to know what their children are being taught.
- Parents have the right to be heard.
- Parents have the right to see the school budget and spending.
- Parents have the right to protect their child's privacy.
- Parents have the right to keep their children safe.
No one is more qualified to make decisions for children than their parents, and it's finally time we empower them with the information they need in order to succeed.
With the passage of the Parents Bill of Rights Act in the House, we are one step closer to fulfilling our commitment to parents all across the nation.
