John,

I want you to be one of the first to know that I just introduced the bipartisan Reducing Accidents in Locomotives (RAIL) Act alongside my colleague, Republican Rep. Bill Johnson.

After the train derailment disaster in East Palestine, Rep. Johnson and I knew that we couldn’t wait to enact commonsense public safety legislation – we knew we had to act quickly and work together.

Our legislation aims to prevent future railway accidents, hold railroad companies accountable, and protect the hundreds of thousands of Americans residing near railroad tracks, including many right here at home in Ohio.

Keeping our communities safe is not a partisan issue. Whether you’re a Democrat or Republican – whether you voted for me, voted for my opponent, or chose not to vote at all – I vowed to work across the aisle and deliver bipartisan solutions to the issues facing our families and communities.

And so I’m proud to say that the bipartisan RAIL Act is a promise kept.

As always, thank you for entrusting me to serve.

Emilia
