John: More Americans live in Washington, D.C., than in Vermont OR Wyoming – and giving those 670,000 residents the right to representation is more urgent than ever before. Here's why:

FIRST: Republicans rolled back voting rights across the nation, weakening our democracy and directly targeting Black Americans.

THEN: GOP extremists won back the House, giving them free rein to push their far-right agenda.

NOW: House Republicans have blocked two D.C. bills from becoming law – renewing Democratic calls for statehood.

D.C. residents pay more per capita in federal income taxes than residents of any other state, and denying them the right to vote is just plain wrong. Even though the GOP might be happy to take away the right to vote if it helps keep them in power, Americans know that D.C. statehood is long overdue.

There’s good news: Senate Democrats are introducing legislation to make D.C. a state. And plurality of Americans SUPPORT statehood, but we need to know where you stand.
