Congressman Kim on State Department Ending Discriminatory Assignment Restrictions
This week, the State Department ended their discriminatory “assignment restriction” policy that prevented people from working on issue areas because of their religion or family heritage. This step embraces diversity in our workforce that will strengthen our country’s diplomacy. Congressman Kim previously joined colleagues in introducing the Accountability in Assignment Restrictions Act to reform the practice of Assignment Restrictions at the State Department.

At this week’s Military Personnel Subcommittee Hearing, Ranking Member Kim spoke about how diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives support the growth and success of our armed forces. In his opening statement, he urged to not look at how these initiatives have worked hand in hand to building an effective and formidable military.
