Heidi entered state politics because she saw that corporate special interests were overrunning the government. For the past five years, she has worked to improve government ethics and transparency in elections. After years of legislators not listening, Heidi is taking matters into her own hands.

Her opponent, State Senator Dave Marsden, has been in office for more than 17 years. During that time he has made a name for himself as a politician who votes against the best interests of ANIMALS in Virginia. Heidi recounted a story of a woman who has been following Senator Marsden’s unfavorable votes around animal welfare, and has noticed a change in the way he votes since Heidi launched her campaign to run against him. The woman told Heidi, “There are zoo animals in Virginia who are still alive today because you are running against Dave Marsden.”

Marsden is considered a conservative Democrat and has a record of preferential treatment towards corporations – in fact, he’s accepted over $1M from corporations throughout his career. Heidi is dedicated to the fight to end corruption in Virginia politics, but first, she has to make it through her primary election – oh, and did we mention she’s currently 36 weeks pregnant?
