It’s now or never to stop the worst climate threats from becoming a reality.

John, this week brought some big news regarding the state of climate change. We wish it was good news.

The United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) released its latest report, and they predict that global temperatures will reach 1.5 degrees Celsius above preindustrial levels by the start of the next decade.

We’re crossing the climate rubicon, John. This global temperature benchmark is exactly what the Paris Climate Agreement was designed to avoid. And now, here we are.

Even with this bleak news, the IPCC still says that we have one last shot at avoiding total climate catastrophe — which would require globally cutting greenhouse gas emissions by HALF within the next 6 years.

This is the last IPCC report like this we’ll get for another six years. By the time the next one comes out, it may already be too late.

It’s (past) time to get serious. We must make transformational changes that rethink how we build homes, grow food, produce energy, and defend our ecosystems. The consequences of not taking action are too dire: Flooding would inundate coastal cities, and severe heat could become unbearable in many places worldwide. Saltwater intrusion will make drinking water scarce. Ocean acidity would rise, killing off coral reefs.

That’s where SEEC Members come in. As the most powerful voice on climate action in Congress, they are focused on combating climate change and following the science to create a sustainable future.

It’s now or never to take action against climate change, and our pro-environment House members are the only thing that stands between action on climate and a complete disregard for this crisis. Chip in to support the efforts of SEEC members who are fighting to reverse the climate crisis before it’s too late >>

Let's get to work,

SEEC PAC

Thanks to your help in 2022, SEEC PAC was able to re-elect over 95% of our pro-environment members to the U.S. House of Representatives — defying the odds on a night where Democrats lost seats. Now we are counting on you to help our SEEC members pass climate, clean energy and environmental justice policies in the 118th Congress while we continue fighting for a sustainable future.
