ODHH is excited to announce that A2Z and DBSC have coordinated the following Onsite Training available in Spokane, Washington

*Flyer Text Description: *A2Z Interpreting, The DeafBlind Service Center, and the Office of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing presents:
Working with DeafBlind People
Understanding the Support Service Provider (SSP) role, interpreter boundaries, and the difference between an interpreter and Communication Facilitators.
Presented by Debra Kahn, DB Consultant and Jessica Phillips, SSP and CF Coordinator
This interactive, on-site training will include hands-on training and discussion regarding working with clients who are DeafBlind. Discussions will include topics such as diversity in the DB community, the importance of touch, the Protactile Movement, the roles of SSPs (Support Service Provider) and CFs (Communication Facilitator), and the requirements to partner with DBSC as a provider. Hands-on training will include guiding techniques and basic protactile techniques.
Please note:
● This workshop will be limited to 16 people and open to the public, however participants must have some signing ability.
● Anyone in the Deaf and interpreting community interested in working with DeafBlind people are welcome to join!
● Lunch will be provided.
● Workshop presented in ASL, accommodations available upon request.
