Join CND at Lakenheath airbase on 20 May ? On Tuesday, CND groups gathered at the US Embassy in London to protest the return of US nuclear bombs to Lakenheath airbase in Suffolk. Organised by London Region CND, supporters and groups came from across the capital, Norwich, Cambridge, Kent, and as far away as Manchester. Speakers at the protest made clear that any return of these weapons of mass destruction to Britain will be met with persistent opposition. ? Join CND at XR's 'The Big One' ? The UK government is not taking its climate commitments seriously. Last week it announced billions of pounds in additional military spending, a commitment to dirty nuclear power, and an expansion of military posturing in the Indo-Pacific under the AUKUS pact. On Tuesday, it was revealed that Britain was sending depleted uranium tank ammunition to Ukraine - despite their links to serious health and environmental issues like cancer and kidney failure. ? As part of the XR Peace collective, CND is calling on supporters to join us at Extinction Rebellion's 'The Big One', four days of events taking place around the Houses of Parliament in London between 21 and 24 April. We need to send a clear message that war and militarism are detrimental to our planet's health and global security. At a time when nuclear tensions have never been higher, we need to make a stand for peace and planet.? |
