John, how and
where we get our news is constantly changing.
With the disappearance of local newsrooms, many communities have ended up
in “news deserts” — and been left particularly vulnerable to right-wing
disinformation that’s spread online.
At Courier Newsroom, we know that the best antidote to disinformation is
more good information, so we’re fighting back by building the largest
left-leaning network of local newsrooms in America.
Right now, we have journalists in eight battleground states working to
fill in these information gaps by serving free, high-quality news pieces
that are focused on the issues voters actually care about and are served
in the online spaces where people actually get their news.
A critical part of our success is our ability to stay one step ahead of
trends in news consumption, so we want to take a moment to hear from you:
How do you get your news?

it a quick and easy way to support our fight against bad information:

Your insight will be invaluable to our local newsrooms as they fight
disinformation and reach new audiences who don’t have access to quality,
local news.
Courier Newsroom is different because we deliver our factual, local
journalism directly to the newsfeeds, inboxes and other online spaces
where people actually get their news — the same spaces dominated by
right-wing conspiracy theories and misinformation.
Plus, we don’t hide our news pieces behind paywalls like many mainstream
media groups do.
Our news model isn’t traditional — but that’s why it works. Just look at
this data out of Michigan:
A case study showed that individuals who were exposed to our factual
stories on abortion rights were more likely to be supportive of a ballot
initiative that enshrines reproductive freedom in Michigan’s Constitution.
For our approach to continue working in 2023 and beyond, we have to
constantly gauge how people are getting their news. That’s what makes your
input so important — with your help, we can better serve local
communities.

local communities who need our content the most. So we’re asking: will you
take our quick, 90-second News Consumption Survey?
