Will Bolton appear before the Senate?
President Donald Trump's former national security adviser John Bolton alleges in his forthcoming book that the president explicitly told him that $391 million in security assistance to Ukraine was conditioned on investigations into Democrats, including former Vice President Joe Biden.
Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) said Monday that it is "increasingly likely” other Republican senators will vote to call Bolton as a witness in Trump’s impeachment trial, which centers around the president’s misconduct – or not – regarding Ukraine.
"It's increasingly apparent that it would be important to hear from John Bolton," Romney said. "I, of course, will make a final decision on witnesses after we've heard from not only the prosecution but also the defense, but I think at this stage it's pretty fair to say that John Bolton has relevant testimony."
But Trump tweeted that he "NEVER told John Bolton that the aid to Ukraine was tied to investigations into Democrats, including the Bidens. In fact, he never complained about this at the time of his very public termination. If John Bolton said this, it was only to sell a book."
Should the Senate call Bolton to testify?
