The Biden administration recently greenlighted a massive oil drilling endeavor on federal lands in Alaska. The permit for the project allows 30 years of oil extraction on Alaska's Western Arctic, equivalent to 76 new coal-fired power plants.
This decision will have catastrophic consequences. The United Nations just released a dire climate report emphasizing that "there is a rapidly closing window of opportunity to secure a liveable and sustainable future for all."
If you think our weather is unstable and unpredictable now, it will only get worse. We have to stop oil drilling and adopt new climate solutions, or we’ll push our planet to dangerous temperature levels that will only increase catastrophic weather events leading to casualties, disruption of the economy, billions in rebuilding efforts, and more.

President Biden can reverse his decision on the Willow project. On the same day that ConocoPhillips received their drilling permit, President Joe Biden issued an executive action banning any further drilling on federal lands in Alaska's North Slope and the surrounding Arctic waters.
In other words, in the same breath that he approved Willow, Biden showed that he can prohibit oil drilling through executive action.
Before ConocoPhillips breaks ground this year on new drilling, Biden must change course with an executive action that reverses the drilling permit.
