Hi John,
The Trump administration has signed a death warrant for 72 threatened grizzly bears near Yellowstone.
It gave the green light for bears to be ruthlessly killed so more livestock can graze on public lands.
This barbaric plan can't stand — so we've launched a powerful new lawsuit to stop the illegal killing.
Please support our fight to save Yellowstone's grizzlies with a gift today to the Predator Defense Fund.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has declared open season on bears in Wyoming's Bridger-Teton National Forest.
Female grizzlies with cubs have been documented occupying the areas where bears will be targeted. It's cruel — and it's also illegal.
Giving the go-ahead to kill wildlife as a favor to industry is exactly the kind of thinking that has fueled the extinction emergency. It's another example of how this administration goes out of its way to weaken the Endangered Species Act by chipping away at protection for imperiled species.
We've got to fight the killing of bears and other wildlife. The government has an obligation to protect species — not sacrifice them to boost industry profits.
The Trump administration removed Endangered Species Act protection from these bears in the summer of 2017, opening the door to a trophy hunt that would have killed up to 24 grizzlies.
We knew removing protection was premature and that bears have yet to fully recover. So we sued — and won.
And we'll do it again.
Yellowstone's grizzlies are still threatened, which makes the Service's latest move that much more infuriating.
And these bears are some of the most beloved in the world. We're not about to let them get picked off without a fight.
Please give now to the Predator Defense Fund and help us protect grizzlies.
For the wild,
