A group of GOP legislators in South Carolina has proposed instituting the death penalty for people who choose to access abortion care.
You read that right. The death penalty for people who have abortions. It’s absolutely outrageous and draconian.

Abortion care is health care and a fundamental human right. No one should be subject to the death penalty, and certainly not pregnant people who are simply accessing care.
This is a draconian piece of legislation that would strip people of their bodily autonomy and reproductive freedom — and it shows the ever-more dangerous extremes to which Republicans will take their anti-abortion efforts.
We cannot look away. We cannot be discouraged. We cannot allow our dismay to lead to inaction. In the face of Republicans’ continued efforts to criminalize pregnancy outcomes and prevent abortion care, we must all continue to protest, organize, advocate, and legislate in defense of abortion rights and reproductive freedom.
I won’t stop fighting until access to safe, compassionate care is a reality for every person in every community across the country. Are you with us?
Will you contribute $3 to reject Republicans’ dangerous criminalization of abortion and help power our work to guarantee abortion and reproductive care as a human right in our county? The intersecting fight for reproductive freedom requires all of us.
