National Puppy Day Room of Truth

NATIONAL PUPPY DAY "ROOM OF TRUTH" IN S. KOREA
LCA & ALW STAGE REPLICA OF DOG SLAUGHTERHOUSE

Dear John,

Today is National Puppy Day. It celebrates the unconditional love that puppies bring to our lives. Yet the devastating conditions of S. Korean dogs being farmed, slaughtered and sold for meat continues, even on a day of global efforts to promote a culture of animal companionship.

For National Puppy Day, LCA and ALW (our S. Korea sister organization, Animal Liberation Wave) installed an exact replica of a dog meat slaughterhouse in the busy Sinchon shopping district in Seoul. The exhibit, titled “National Puppy Day: Room of Truth,” showcases the horrific conditions and instruments that are inside a slaughterhouse. (Note: Stuffed animals were used in the reenactment pictured below.)

Room of Truth on National Puppy Day

The “Room of Truth” is a visual reminder of the 1,000,000 dogs slaughtered every year in the S. Korea dog meat trade. The display is a replica of the Yeoju Gyeshin-ri dog meat slaughterhouse, documented during an LCA/ALW undercover investigation. Authorities shut down the slaughterhouse in 2021 after our investigation was released.

LCA and ALW are demading the S. Korean Government end the dog meat trade now.
