Greetings!

Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) is almost here! This April, we’ll be recognizing SAAM with the theme, "Drawing Connections: Prevention Demands Equity". Throughout April, we'll be discussing how systems of oppression contribute to sexual violence. Our society is built on a foundation of racism and inequity, and drawing connections between ourselves, history, and the world around us is necessary for changing the future. 

Behind the scenes we've been working not only on SAAM 2023 materials, but a refresh to NSVRC's website. Although we've had some challenges and technical issues along the way, we are excited to share resources as they get released and give a preview of what's on the horizon.

Day of Action

Mark your calendar for the SAAM Day of Action on April 4th! Plan events, schedule SAAM-related social media, participate in the #30DaysofSAAM, or find your own way to get involved on April 4th.

One easy way to show solidarity with survivors is to wear teal --the color of sexual violence prevention– on April 4th. Then, post a selfie in your teal outfit using #SAAM2023.

Proclamation

Download your copy of this year’s SAAM Proclamation use this declaration in your community to commit to educating about the interconnections of systemic oppressions and sexual violence.

#30DaysofSAAM Instagram Challenge

Join advocates, activists, survivors, and supporters who are getting involved in #30DaysofSAAM on Instagram with daily prompts encouraging creative ways for you to raise awareness, educate, and connect with others.

Memes & More with a Message Contest for Youth

This year, we have a contest for change-makers ages 5-18! Get creative for SAAM: Make a meme or other visual content with a meaningful message that connects to any aspect of our SAAM theme for a chance to be featured. Submissions can be in the form of memes, gifs, photos (no faces shown), graphics, or handmade drawings.
