Mad is an original co-sponsor on the reintroduced ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment which would finally enshrine gender equality in the Constitution. Begin forwarded message: I’ll get straight to the point, because this is important: It’s long past time to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA). As legislators, we have a responsibility to enshrine gender equality in our Constitution – to put women in our Constitution. That’s why I am an original cosponsor to ratify ERA. 1️⃣ Must be approved by two-thirds of Congress – the ERA passed this step in 1971.
Now, it's time for Congress to act and ratify the ERA as the law of the land. You can do your part by instantly adding your name to stand with Mad in the fight for gender equality.

Believe it or not, we’ve been waiting for ratification of the ERA for more than 50 years. I know civics class is in the past for many of us, but let me remind you of the requirements for a constitutional amendment:

2️⃣ Two-thirds of states (38) must ratify – Virginia became the 38th state to ratify in January 2020.
