Dear John,

As the days get longer and the weather grows warmer, we can’t imagine a better time to welcome a new best friend into your life. And neither can the adoptable pets here at PAWS Chicago.

We have dogs who would love nothing more than to join you on long summer walks and cats who can’t wait to sit on your lap next to an open window. You can make those dreams come true for a deserving pet like Khal.

Khal is an FIV+ cat who came to us very sick. At traditional shelters, he would likely have been euthanatized. But not at PAWS. We nursed this chunky monkey back to health and now he’s enjoying a new home and a new life with adopter Zach Goin.

“When I first walked in for the visit, he immediately ran up to my lap and hung out and it kinda felt right after that. Dude loves to cozy up whenever he can. I just really like having him around. He's a really sweet cat,” said Zach.

Sheriff's Office Reduces Stress with Pets

The Cook County Sheriff’s Office recently announced a wellness program for its staff, offering the opportunity to volunteer with PAWS pets in an effort to reduce stress. Not only is this program beneficial to participants, but it gives PAWS pets more time to socialize and prepare for adoption. A very warm welcome to our new volunteer partners!

One Potato, Two Potato, Three

Ellie Feldmann recently fostered three adorable puppies from our Texas tornado crisis relief efforts—her 144–146th foster dogs.

“I cannot imagine a day when I don’t foster. There are still tears on drop-off days but that is okay. You know you did something amazing for a dog in need to set them up for success with their forever home.”
