was proud to be at Wayne State University to announce the launch of the Wayne State Guarantee. Starting this fall, incoming students with family incomes of $70,000 or less will be able to attend Wayne State tuition-free and with zero out of pocket expenses. There are so many hardworking young Michiganders out there who want to go to college but do not because of the cost. That’s why I’m so grateful to Wayne State for their efforts to open the doors of higher education to thousands more Michiganders.
When we invest in students, we invest in Michigan’s future. The Wayne State Guarantee will help us grow economic opportunity for Michiganders and drive towards our Sixty by 30 goal to have 60% of adults earn a postsecondary degree or certificate by 2030. Michigan Achievement Scholarship to lower the cost of tuition by thousands for the majority of graduating seniors starting this year. Last week, Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist II joined the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and others to launch the new $10 million Michigan Economic Opportunity Fund. This fund is a microbusiness loan program for , veterans, entrepreneurs of color in Michigan, who will be able to apply for up to $50,000 in loans. It will support hundreds of entrepreneurs across our state and These investments will help more Michiganders launch their business ideas and grow their futures in our great state.
