In case you missed it, our Vote Mama alumna, Nebraska State Senator Machaela Cavanaugh, filibustered for THREE WEEKS to block Legislative Bill 574, which would ban gender-affirming, life-saving care to trans youth. Now, Senator Cavanaugh is signaling she may have the necessary votes to kill the bill.

Her words give me chills, and remind me why we do this work here at Vote Mama to elect Democratic moms like Senator Cavanaugh.

Even in a state like Nebraska where Democrats don’t have the majority, Senator Cavanaugh is doing everything she can to speak truth to power and fight against hatred and bigotry. She is leveraging her power as a pro-choice, pro-family, pro-LGBTQ+, pro-gender equality Democratic mama to block a bill that threatens the lives of children.
