We’re eight days out from our end of quarter deadline. And look, CEOs and
my teenagers agree: I’m not one for BS answers. [ [link removed] ]So here are the quick
and honest reasons for why I’m asking for your $5 right now.

This end of quarter deadline will be the first time our Senate campaign is
required to publicly report how much money we have raised since launching.

* A strong number signals that I’m a serious competitor in this race.
* It can prevent super PACs from attacking me (let’s show them it’s not
worth it!).
* There’s a saying—early money is like yeast, it helps the dough rise.
Reporting a strong number can encourage others to join in.

I’m running for Senate because we need someone to fight the battles of
tomorrow, stand up to special interests, and “do Congress” in a way that
connects with Americans—many of whom are disillusioned about whether our
government can work for them.

* But to get this message to voters, we need to build a robust campaign.
* Recent polling has me behind by two points, but I lead the race by 9
points in my home area of Orange County.
* The data shows that when voters of all persuasions hear from us, the
message sticks. But we have to reach voters where they’re at, and you
can help me do so.

I’m the only Democrat in this race who has never taken a dime from
corporate PACs.

* I also reject all contributions from federal lobbyists and Big Bank,
Big Oil, and Big Pharma CEOs.
* Our average donation is less than $30.
* One of our opponents started with three times the cash on hand we did,
so we need to catch up.
