Today's KCDC Legislative Update is attached below. 

SB 258, the excessive access lawsuit bill was modified in committee to include requirement that the person, law firm or entity that files the lawsuit must pay attorney's fees for the defendant even if the defendant (business) is found guilty of an accessibility violation under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) or other access law.  if the judge finds the person bringing the action is guilty of abusive  litigation, punitive damages and costs of bringing the action can also be awarded and paid by the bringer of the action.  This could punish a person with a disability if they file a legitimate lawsuit against a business that is inaccessible and they win the case.  

If this issue is important to you, please contact you Senator soon. This bill on General Orders and will probably be worked on the Senate floor on Monday.
