At Green America, we get asked if a green economy can really provide good paying jobs and careers. The answer is that several million people nationwide are already working in great green jobs. What we tell naysayers is that there are companies big and small that are making their green dreams work—and growing the green economy by hiring more people.

When we started our latest Green American Magazine issue, the much-anticipated Green New Deal was introduced in Congress—a proposal that reflects our work and the work of our members. What’s especially exciting is that as much as the GND is about desperately needed clean energy jobs, it’s a massive investment in a green economy that would radically reduce emissions and enhance social justice. In that way, it’s a representation of what Green Americans have been working toward for decades. And it’s what the people whose stories we tell in this issue are manifesting today.

Fossil banks? No thanks!

Through their financing for fossil fuels, banks play a crucial role in climate change. As the biggest funder of fossil fuels – including fossil fuel expansion -- JPMorgan Chase is now the worst bank in the world for people and the planet.
