We need leaders who will fight to protect the rights and privacy of transgender students.
The Florida Governor is targeting trans university students — Dem AGs are pushing back against Ron DeSantis and his anti-LGBTQIA+ agenda. Chip in now to help elect more Dem AGs who will hold anti-LGBTQ+ politicians like DeSantis accountable.
We know keeping track of all of the dangerous policies that Ron DeSantis is trying to implement in Florida can be tricky since, frankly, there’s so many. So in case you haven’t heard about his latest horrendous efforts, DeSantis is trying to force state universities to give him information on students who are receiving gender-affirming care.
Between this latest attempt, the “Don’t Say Gay” bill, and legislation that would prevent teachers from calling students any pronouns other than the ones they were assigned at birth, it’s no secret that DeSantis and other Florida Republicans are targeting the LGBTQ+ community with hateful attacks.
Thankfully, 16 Democratic AGs are pushing back on DeSantis’ latest transphobic actions by highlighting that his request for information will intimidate university administrators and health care providers and scare students from accessing needed medical care.
We all know DeSantis’ reasons for requesting this information aren’t to protect trans students. Reports have suggested that he might try to use this information to cut funding for universities that provide gender-affirming care for students.
Democratic AGs truly are “The People’s Lawyers” and DAGA is the only party committee devoted to electing more of them. Since 2016, we’ve won two-thirds of our targeted races, and we can't stop now – will you chip in today?
