Hi Reader,

Our spring member drive began earlier this week, and I’m so grateful for the response we’ve seen so far from our readers. I hope you’ll join them by making a donation in any amount to support our deep-dive journalism <[link removed]>, which shines a light on corruption and injustice, holding the powerful to account.

We shine that light with a purpose. Our mission is to use the moral force of investigative journalism to spur change. Our work has led to laws being passed, people resigning from powerful positions, victims receiving compensation, and much more. We carefully track the impact of our work, and here are a few recent examples of stories that led to action:

*

A judge has now paused an order <[link removed]> to return two Utah siblings to their father’s custody after we revealed that the state’s Division of Child and Family Services had found that their father had sexually and emotionally abused them and that there were criminal investigations underway.

*

After a ProPublica-Texas Tribune investigation found that courts failed to report juvenile mental health hospitalizations to the federal firearm background check system, lawmakers from both parties are backing bills <[link removed]> to ensure compliance with the law.

*

The federal government is now investigating an Illinois school after a ProPublica story revealed that administrators had been calling the police on students <[link removed]> an average of every other day and students with disabilities were frequently arrested.

We’ve got reporters all over the country investigating stories of injustice and corruption — stories that can make a real difference for everyday people. It’s the only kind of work we do, and we’re able to sustain it because of the generosity and confidence of our readers.

Join over 40,000 ProPublicans and donate today. <[link removed]> Help ensure that ProPublica has the resources to follow the most important stories wherever they lead and for however long it takes.

Thanks so much, Jill Shepherd Fellow ProPublican <[link removed]>
