Jerusalem

"For Western civilization to flourish, Judeo-Christian moral disarmament, or moral surrender, must come to an end."

We can all sense it—the West is in a spiritual and cultural crisis. If it is to recover, then it needs to look eastward, toward Jerusalem.

That's the case Eric Cohen, Executive Director of the Tikvah Fund and First Things contributor, makes in "The Message from Jerusalem," recently published in Mosaic, the premier online magazine of Jewish ideas. Mr. Cohen's piece is joined by contributions on the same subject from other writers well-known to First Things readers, like leading Catholic thinker George Weigel, renowned American historian Wilfred McClay, and Rabbi David Novak. And today, Mr. Cohen replies to his interlocuters in a final essay, "The Consequences of a World without Constraints."
