John,

Last week, Freedom Caucus member Rep. David Schweikert avoided the
people of his district as always, but he certainly had a lot to say to
the media.

In a Fountain Hills Times interview he said "entitlement" programs have
led to this country's debt. He blatantly ignored the impact of the Trump
tax cuts and again stood beside the President as they both took a swing
at Social Security and Medicare.

I will fight to protect and strengthen Social Security and Medicare. We
can and must raise the cap. We must ensure everyone can retire with
dignity.

He also discussed impeachment.

He said, "The thing I fret about is if this becomes the standard for the
future, will we ever have a president who is not impeached with a
divided Congress?"

This is the response of someone who is unwilling to acknowledge his role
to protect our country over party, to do his constitutional duty. This
is someone who apparently favors normalizing the obstruction of justice.

I will always protect country first. I will always put justice first.

And, I will be accessible to answer the tough questions and respond to
the tough votes.

While Rep. Schweikert continues to hide behind screened telephone town
halls (he is holding one this week), I am formally pledging to hold
regular in-person town halls when elected your Congresswoman.

Today, I signed the official Town Hall Pledge.

I agree to:

* A minimum of 4 town halls per calendar year

* Town halls that are in-person, free and open to the public and press

* At least 30 minutes for open, unscreened questions

Team Anita's 200-person September 2019 town hall was a historic moment
for this district since Schweikert hasn't held one in more than 6 years.

Such simple engagement with our representative, however, shouldn't be
rare or special. It should be the norm.
