Hey John, it’s Mark Kelly. My friend Chris Murphy is up for re-election in 2024, and we’re working to support him. Holding Connecticut’s seat is vital to holding the Senate. I hope you’ll read the message below from Chris, and consider splitting a donation between his campaign and mine.

John, I’m reaching out personally because I need to ask a favor of you today. Yes, this is a fundraising ask, and I wish I didn’t have to make it. But it’s important that I have the resources to win re-election, so I hope you will hear me out.

The truth is I hate asking people to contribute. It’s the worst part of this job, and our democracy would be better off if we could get these absurd levels of money out of our politics. The corporate money and super PACs are undoubtedly a corrosive force.

But my campaign cannot just unilaterally disarm. It would put a huge target on us for far-right billionaires and super PACs that can spend limitless sums of money. Senate races are just expensive, and frankly, people deserve to know that I’m putting in the work of legislating in the Senate and organizing on the ground to earn their vote.

That’s why I’m building a people-powered campaign from start to finish. I’m going to fund this the right way — I’m not taking any PAC or corporate money — but it requires that I lean on you a bit more.
