Dear John,
When LDAD launched back in 2019, we had little more than hope that our mission would galvanize fellow lawyers and make a positive impact on our beleaguered democracy.
Fast-forward four years, to our most productive month in our history. And now we need your help to continue our work.
In case you missed it, on March 6 we filed an ethics complaint seeking the disbarment of Stefan C. Passantino, the lawyer initially representing Cassidy Hutchinson, who ultimately became a key witness to the January 6 Committee. Two days later, we announced the completion of a major joint project to develop a proposed code of conduct for Supreme Court Justices.
As we reflect on our founding and how far we have come, we are struck, too, with what has stayed the same.
Since Day 1, our organization has been led by a dedicated and impassioned Board of volunteers — lawyers who have dedicated their time to fight against authoritarianism wherever it emerges in this country, and to engage in a civil dialog that emphasizes our mutual goals of preserving democracy and promoting equality.
Today, they take this dedication further, by offering a $15,000 matching gift for donations made between now and April 5th.
