Our work continues...

Dear John,

When I took over as the executive director of the National Disability Rights Network, I promised to always be transparent with our supporters. So, I’ll get straight to the point. Our current level of funding does not provide enough resources for all the advocacy efforts we have planned this year. We need your help once again to continue fighting for the rights of people with disabilities.

As you know, NDRN fights to end abuse and neglect where we find it. We assist people to find and keep their jobs. We work with kids, parents, and schools to combat bullying and ensure educational opportunities for students with disabilities. We help people exercise their constitutional right to vote. And we speak out against discrimination.

We also work hard here in Washington, DC to strengthen the laws that protect the rights of people with disabilities. And despite a divided Congress, five pieces of legislation that we’ve been working on have already been introduced. If passed, these bills will have a huge impact on everything from accessible air travel, to ending pay discrimination, to keeping people with disabilities safe during disasters. We are also fighting to make sure programs like Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid are safe and secure, not just for people with disabilities but for every American.

A gift of $25 today will go a long way toward helping us achieve our goals.

One of our most important jobs is to ensure that the nation’s protection and advocacy system – the agencies that make up the National Disability Rights Network – receive support from the federal government. Once again, our divided government is making that task more difficult this year as politicians play games with the federal budget.

Any reduction in funding equates to a reduction of services for people with disabilities – it’s that simple. Your support of our public policy work helps us keep the pressure on and will ensure that people with disabilities always have somewhere to go if they need help.

Help us keep the pressure on by donating $5, $10, $25, or more today.

The bottom line is this. We cannot afford to stop fighting — but we cannot afford to continue at this pace without your support. The National Disability Rights Network represents an army of fighters — and you should count yourself among them. Your past support of our work makes these efforts possible.

Sincerely,

Marlene Sallo
Executive Director

PS. I know that your mailbox is jammed packed with requests for support from many worthwhile causes. As we approach Tax Day in April, remember donations to the National Disability Rights Network are tax-deductible. Will you help us keep fighting?
