Dear NRDC Activist,
If you haven't seen it, NOAA has a new report on the Arctic revealing that the rapidly thawing region is releasing as much carbon pollution per year as entire countries like Mexico, Canada, and South Korea.
This threatens indigenous communities and wildlife in the Arctic region, but also has impacts around the world — jeopardizing our health and communities and fueling more extreme weather. We need a response that rises to the level of the threat we are facing.
That's exactly what NRDC's 2020 Climate Action Plan does. We are going to hit back hard against climate change and put us on track for a healthier future and livable planet for all people. But we need your support to make it a reality.
Will you make a special gift to push for powerful, climate-saving policies before it's too late? Until January 31, all gifts made up to our $250,000 goal will be doubled for twice the impact.

NOAA confirms that the melting permafrost is unleashing massive amounts of more climate pollution. And the Greenland Ice Sheet, the second largest ice body in the world, is losing 267 billion metric tons of ice per year — that's the equivalent of 44,500 Hoover Dams — and causing unprecedented sea level rise around the world.
Now, the Trump administration is speeding up the climate crisis by pushing to expand reckless drilling in the Arctic and open new sea lanes for oil tankers.
NRDC's 2020 Climate Action Plan is not only committed to blocking drilling in the Arctic and other fossil fuel expansion, but it will also:
- Advance the clean energy revolution and crack down on dirty power
- Defend our climate-saving forests and soils
- Commit to job-creating and energy-saving buildings, appliances, and transportation systems
- Protect communities by helping them withstand the impacts of climate change
- Build worldwide momentum for deploying climate solutions now
NRDC is waging multiple courtroom battles against Trump administration rollbacks of critical climate policies like the Clean Power Plan and clean car standards. We recently filed our 101st lawsuit, but we need your support to help jumpstart our Climate Action Plan while you can have double the impact.
We have a big challenge ahead — but we know how to beat it. As NRDC's new president, I am determined to make 2020 the year of no regrets — the year we galvanize unstoppable momentum for climate action and bring the power of the people to bear more than ever before.
Let's come together and demand real climate-saving, clean energy solutions that mean less pollution, healthier communities, and better jobs. Our future on this planet depends on it.
We can do this, we must do this, and we will do this, together. Now, let's get to work.
Sincerely,

Gina McCarthy
President, NRDC
