Women's March

John — as we wait for updates on the momentous far-right lawsuit against the abortion pill mifepristone, it’s important to stay on top of the other news surrounding the fight for reproductive rights.

But first, we need to ask you to make your first contribution to power our fight. This month, email donors are giving an average of $18.60. Please, match that and contribute $18.60 ASAP so when we next have to activate, we’re ready.

Here are some headlines we wouldn’t want you to miss:

Abortion foes seek vows from 2024 GOP hopefuls
Activists are planning to pressure presidential candidates to promise a variety of national abortion restrictions. - The Washington Post

Leading anti-abortion groups intend to ensure the next Republican presidential nominee would enact a federal abortion ban.

“You Know What? I’m Not Doing This Anymore.”
There’s a quiet new crisis brewing in Texas following the abortion ban. It could get much worse. - SLATE

OB-GYNs and other medical providers are considering leaving Texas since they’re unable to provide quality care in the face of a cruel, extreme abortion ban. Meanwhile, patients struggle to access the care they need.

New law puts Wyoming at forefront of abortion pill bans
Wyoming has pushed to the front of efforts to prohibit the most common type of abortion, with the nation's first explicit ban on abortion pills. - ABC News

All abortion is illegal in Wyoming as of last weekend. Wyoming Republicans also passed a ban specifically covering medication abortion, which is set to take effect in July. However, abortion using pills is already outlawed under the state’s ban.

Only 1 percent of abortions in Utah took place in a hospital. Soon, that’s the only place they’ll be allowed.
The overwhelming majority of the abortions in Utah were performed in clinics, according to 2020 data exclusively shared with The 19th. But a new law will ban clinics from performing the procedure. - The 19th

Although Utah still allows abortion up to 18 weeks, abortion care is set to become much less accessible. 99% of abortions in Utah take place in clinics. Republicans just passed a law requiring any abortion care to take place in hospitals — yet another way anti-abortion extremists seek to ban abortion without passing explicit bans.

If these headlines make you angry, we get it. Us too. And that anger fuels our determination to keep up the fight.

We’re determined to do whatever it takes so patients in every corner of our country can access quality reproductive health care — including abortion care.
