Hi there, it’s nice to meet you!
I’m the new campaign manager on the team. It’s been a busy first couple of days on the job, but I wanted to take a brief moment to update you on our strategy.
Josh and I both think it’s important that supporters like you — the backbone of our team — have a deep understanding of our campaign’s plans.
I worked hard on this memo for you. It outlines our strategy, our path to victory, and where we will invest the funds this campaign raises from emails just like this one! [[link removed]]

Josh Stein Path to Victory
Date: March 22, 2023
The numbers:
As of last month, there were about 7,200,000 registered voters in North Carolina. 33% are registered Democrats and 30% are registered Republicans. The largest share of voters (36%) are unaffiliated.
In past elections, Josh has won his race by just 13,622 votes (2020), and 24,613 (2016). Statewide elections in North Carolina are always close — it’s one of the most competitive states in the country.
The voters:
We know not all registered voters turn out in every election — but to win this race, we need to turn out every Democrat we can and reduce the artificial barriers the GOP has created on access to the ballot box.
We also need to focus on persuading undecided voters, showing them where Josh stands on the important issues and what his opponents will do to our state if given the opportunity.
To reach both our mobilization targets and persuadable targets, we need to go up on air with TV ads, reach folks through highly-targeted digital ads, target voters through direct mail pieces, and — most importantly — reach out to communities directly through meet and greets, public appearances, town halls, and an aggressive field operation.
The message:
No matter who Josh is talking to — Democrat, Republican, or Independent — our message stays the same:
Josh has a track record of fighting for the people — all the people — standing up to bad actors, and delivering real results to make our lives better.
Meanwhile, his likely opponent has extremist views that are out of touch with the vast majority of North Carolinians. Our freedoms — like the right to vote, our reproductive freedoms, and so much more — are on the line.

Here’s the takeaway I hope you get from this — Josh has a clear path to victory in this race, but the cost of reaching all the voters we need is steep.
The donation you make today will have an outsized impact on our race because it allows us to reach voters earlier and help us plan for larger investments close to Election Day.
Your involvement in this campaign matters, and if you are able to today, I’d greatly appreciate your help funding the work we have to do (that is my job after all!).
Can I count on a contribution of any size from you today? [[link removed]]

Campaign Manager, Josh Stein for NC
Josh Stein has been fighting for North Carolinians for over 20 years. He’s running for Governor to ensure that the people of North Carolina remain our state’s top priority. Josh believes that North Carolina’s progress must be rooted in our shared values of freedom, fairness, and opportunity for everyone. That means fighting extremism at all levels of government and holding bad actors accountable.
Josh spent the last six years as Attorney General delivering for the people of North Carolina. He will continue his work, but he can only get there with your help. Republicans are already coalescing behind an extreme candidate and we can’t let our state fall into the wrong hands. Donate now to elect Josh Stein as the next Governor of North Carolina!
