Great News: SB 4 Passes Out of Senate Committee!

Yesterday, SB 4 (Wiener) passed out of the Senate Committee on Housing! Next, it will head to the Senate Governance and Finance Committee. Big thank you to everyone who showed up to the rally at the Capitol yesterday. Your presence and support made a difference!

SB 4 Continues to Gain Momentum! SB 4, which would create new opportunities for faith leaders and independent colleges to build critically needed affordable homes on their own land, continues to gain momentum and support, most recently by earning endorsements from the CA State Council of Laborers and the Conference of Operating Engineers. They join the Southwest Mountain States Carpenters, Northern California Carpenters, Service Employees International Union California(SEIU), & California School Employees Association (CSEA) in support of this bill.

Next Steps: We Need Your Help to Pass SB 4! Help us pass this critical bill by submitting an organizational support letter today.

According to the 2023 Housing Needs Report from California Housing Partnership, Califonia is only funding 20% of what it needs to meet its new affordable housing production goals, even though the state has more than tripled affordable housing production in the past 4 years.
