John – today is World Water Day!
An annual United Nations global observance day dedicated to solving water shortages around the world and promoting sustainable water management, this World Water Day I’m reflecting on the generational challenge that is our state’s water crisis and the work that lies ahead as we build a more resilient Arizona.
We need realistic solutions now to address the rapid depletion of our state’s natural resources and the viability of our state’s water supply – we simply don’t have the luxury of waiting years to tackle these issues. Droughts are becoming more common and prolonged, and too many Arizonans don’t have access to clean, safe, and reliable water.
Our economy, our livelihoods, and our way of life all are impacted by whether or not we have sufficient water policies – and our state is long overdue for a comprehensive, modernized plan to protect our water supplies that will give us security for the future.
I’m determined to address and solve our state’s water crisis, but extreme Republicans in the state legislature would rather push divisive, out-of-touch legislation than work together.
