I’d like to introduce myself.

My name is Bob Shippee. I’m a Democrat running for the House of Delegates in Virginia’s 57th district, representing eastern Goochland and western Henrico, west of Richmond. This is a must-win seat to restore a Democratic majority, and I’m writing to humbly ask for your support.

I've had the pleasure of living, working, and raising my family in this community for the past 27 years, and am passionate about making it an even better place for all of us.

I’m not here to talk about myself, though. I want to talk about us.

We’re at a crucial point in Virginia. We’re the last southern state that protects a woman’s right to choose. We’re one of the first to make real investments towards environmental sustainability. We’re leaders in education, health care, and economic policy.

There’s just one problem: all of that can go away.

This year, all 140 seats of the Virginia General Assembly will be up for re-election. The Republican-held House of Delegates has shown itself to be against all of the incredible progress that’s made Virginia the beacon of the south.

This election may be unpredictable, but here’s the good news:

Redistricting made a unique opportunity for a once heavily-gerrymandered Republican district to effectivelybe a toss-up. That’s the seat I’m running for.

District 57 will determine if Democrats will take back the House of Delegates and protect all of the work we’ve done these past few years.

I urge you to support my campaign and join me in the fight for Virginia. This isn’t a time to sit back – I need your help. And I hope you’ll do just that.
