Hello,

March has been a substantial month – from celebrating the trailblazing women that came before us, to commemorating the Selma marches and the fight for voting rights – we've looked back on our past in order to continue the push forward.

For International Women’s Day , we shared with you ( a non-exhaustive list ) some of the incredible women of Washington's past and present, reminding us how far we've come and how far we still need to go to achieve gender equity.

And for Equal Pay Day , we were reminded that women need to work 73 more days than men to be paid the same amount for equal work – and the disparity only grows for BIPOC women, LGBTQ+ folks, and moms. That's unacceptable. I will always carry on the fight for gender equity in Congress, including our rights to make our own healthcare decisions and access reproductive care.

If one thing has been clear this month, it’s that we cannot allow the clock to be rolled back on the rights we have fought so hard for. So, amidst the constant extremist attacks and a Republican-controlled House, we must begin the work now to take back our Democratic majority and elect pro-choice, pro-democracy leaders who will move our country forward.

Democrats are making real strides for working families, NAME/friend. President Biden included two of my proposals in the Fiscal Year 2024 budget to permanently expand the Child Tax Credit (which cut childhood poverty in half in just one year) and increase affordable housing across the country, creating an additional 2 million affordable homes by expanding the Housing Credit. This will only build on the success of the Inflation Reduction Act that is already cutting costs for families and small businesses, and on track to reduce our deficit by $3 trillion over the next decade .

I'm encouraged to see policies with a proven track record of supporting working families being pushed forward. I will continue fighting for you and your families across the country every step of the way.
