Building our CZ Imaging Institute!

To cure, prevent, or manage all diseases by the end of the century, we need to develop a dynamic, integrated view of biological systems in health and disease. To accomplish this goal, the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative is creating the Chan Zuckerberg Institute for Advanced Biological Imaging ([link removed] ) (CZ Imaging Institute), which aims to push forward the development and application of new imaging technologies over the next 15 years to obtain deep insights into the architecture of complex biological systems at the molecular level.

We are building the CZ Imaging Institute and would love to have you as part of the team. Joining CZ Imaging Institute is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work on something completely new that you can’t do elsewhere. Check out a couple of our open roles!

Black Heritage Month

Our B.L.K. employee resource group focuses on empowering the Black community at CZI to build connections, leadership and advance knowledge for Black identifying employees. This year for Black History Month, they selected Family Reunion as the theme to celebrate the cumulative resilience and accomplishments of Black people across the diaspora while coming together as one family. As part of the celebration, members submitted reflections and recipes:

“Togetherness and a shared way to preserve Black culture and triumph.” CZIer Erin Pierce shares what the Family Reunion means to her and her family’s Quick Biscuits recipe.

“Pure love and joy!” That’s what Family Reunion means to CZIer Drew Brown and his Cantaloupe Martini recipe reminds him of family gatherings. It’s “a twist on a drink that we enjoy every holiday with each other. It brings up so many positive memories.”

“Reconnecting and continuing to build on relations you are not able to on a frequent basis.” CZIer Winnie Kerubo shares what Family Reunion means to her and her family’s Mandazi recipe.

Engineering that Enables Scientific Breakthroughs

Arathi Mani is an Engineering Manager on the Single-Cell team, who is creating tools to make it easier and faster for scientists to answer questions about the building blocks of life—cells. Arathi’s team collaborates with scientists to build Chan Zuckerberg CELLxGENE, an open source tool that expedites analysis of complex data, so that scientists can quickly surface insights.
