It can easily be taken for granted but having reliable access to safe water is a luxury. With the simple turn of the tap, we shower, bathe, quench our thirst, cook our food and keep everything clean.

But privileges like these aren’t available for the 2.2 billion people around the world who don’t have access to safe drinking water.

That’s why we’re asking for your help to rush relief.

Safe water is urgently needed as more people face water scarcity — with almost two thirds of the world’s population experiencing it for at least one month each year — and the climate crisis creates dire emergencies like the historic drought in the Horn of Africa.

UNICEF works in over 100 countries to provide access to safe water, reliable sanitation and basic hygiene supplies. Teams are meeting water needs especially in crisis zones like Syria and Turkey.

Your gift today will help scale up the delivery of these vital resources to reach children in areas of water scarcity and emergencies around the world.

For too many children, a lack of water has devastating consequences. When water is scarce, practicing basic hygiene becomes difficult and the threat of contracting diseases like cholera surges. Water and sanitation-related diseases are one of the leading causes of death in children under 5 years old.

Access to safe water, basic toilets and good hygiene practices not only helps children thrive, it also gives them a healthier start in life.

Since 2000, UNICEF has helped 2 billion people, including women and children, gain access to safe drinking water. Teams can reach even more with your help today.
