Friend,
Can you believe it’s been 13 years since the Affordable Care Act became
law? Despite the repeated efforts by Republicans to repeal the ACA, it has
persisted, expanding Medicaid coverage and reducing the number of
uninsured Nevadans by 45%!
The passage of the ACA also set the stage for the Nevada legislature to
pass the 2021 Nevada Public Option, signed into law by Governor Sisolak,
which sets ceilings for premium prices for public option plans.Â
We’ll be marking the March 23 anniversary with two events – a proclamation
from Sen. Fabian Doñate on the house floor and a special episode of Out in
Front featuring Congresswoman Dina Titus, State Senator Fabian Doñate,
and public health expert Jose Melendrez, and Storyteller Rachel Lee. We’ll
also discuss some of the bills currently before the legislature that deals
with Medicaid, prescription drug prices, and other healthcare access
issues, many of which are sponsored or co-sponsored by Sen. Doñate. And
you won't want to miss Congresswoman Dina Titus to discuss the exciting
news about Nevada's new Avi Kwa Ame National Monument!
The panel will discuss the impacts of the ACA on healthcare in Nevada,
efforts to continue expanding access, and the risks to public health posed
by pollutants like soot. We’ll also discuss some of the bills currently
before the legislature that deals with Medicaid, prescription drug prices,
and other healthcare access issues, many of which are sponsored or
co-sponsored by Sen. Doñate.
Join us for a timely conversation about what it will take to ensure that
all Nevadans have access to quality, affordable healthcare – and clean
air. Join us on Facebook, invite your friends, and join our live stream.
