Dear John,

Access to clean water is a human right. Yet millions of people are denied this necessity.

Working alongside communities to develop essential infrastructure for clean water is important. However, more must be done. We need to understand the root causes of water inequality.

People are denied access to clean water for many reasons. Communities that have been displaced by conflict often depend on unreliable and insanitary water sources. Others are denied access to affordable energy, meaning people cannot power domestic water systems. And industrial pollution continues to contaminate water sources globally.

Alongside communities displaced by conflict in Myanmar, we are securing safe water for drinking and sanitation. In Cambodia, we are working with local communities to develop collectively owned and affordable energy sources; improving peoples’ access to water.

Crucially, we work with activists globally to challenge unjust systems which put profit before ensuring people have the essentials for good health.

This World Water Day show solidarity with people around the world who are securing and advocating for this health essential. Please spread the word about the importance of developing more infrastructure for clean water as well as tackling the root causes of inequality.

Yours sincerely,

Siaffa Bunduka
