While this news is saddening, it’s hardly surprising. Under Republican leadership, it’s basically a guarantee that those in the most vulnerable positions are not going to receive help from their elected officials.
Members of government are elected by the people, and they’re supposed to support them. But when assistance doesn’t rise at even a fraction of the pace of inflation, disenfranchised citizens of red states are not feeling very supported.

In 2020, Texas had by far the highest number of children living in food-insecure households. Texans deserve better, and Americans deserve better.
